Christmas at Luton Hoo Estate runs on selected dates from 4 December 2026 to 3 January 2027, with a light trail and a skating rink. Tickets are not on sale yet.

Luton gets a second Christmas light trail this year, and this one comes with a skating rink. Christmas at Luton Hoo Estate runs on selected dates from Friday 4 December 2026 to Sunday 3 January 2027 in the estate’s Walled Garden, off the A1081 just south of the town (Luton Hoo Estate).

It is new for 2026 and run by TAG Live, a Bedfordshire events company. Tickets are not on sale yet. TAG Live’s page says you can join its list for “ticket news, key dates and the first reveals” (TAG Live).

The quick answer

When: selected dates, 4 December 2026 to 3 January 2027; which nights has not been published. Where: the Walled Garden, Luton Hoo Estate, LU1 4LF. What: a light trail and a skating rink; the third experience is still to be revealed. Tickets: not on sale on 29 September, prices not published. Is it the hotel? No. The estate and the Luton Hoo Hotel are separate, and there is no way through from one to the other.

What is confirmed

  • Dates: 4 December 2026 to 3 January 2027, on selected dates, from the estate’s own events listing.
  • Venue: the Walled Garden at Luton Hoo Estate, LU1 4LF.
  • Organiser: TAG Live, named on the estate’s listing.
  • Format: the estate calls it “three experiences” in “a brand-new festive world of light, skating and Christmas discovery”. TAG Live says the three will be revealed, “with further details coming soon”.

TAG Live told the events trade title Access All Areas on 16 September that the event will have a mile-long light trail through the Walled Garden, with a temporary skating rink inside the garden, spread across 15 acres of the estate (Access All Areas).

Quieter sessions for SEND families

TAG Live also plans Starlight Sessions for children with special educational needs and disabilities and their families. It says they will run at 50% capacity with quieter audio, and at a slower pace (Access All Areas). It has not said which dates they fall on.

What is not confirmed yet

  • Ticket prices and whether the trail and the rink are sold separately.
  • Which dates it opens between 4 December and 3 January, and whether it closes on Christmas Day.
  • Opening times and entry slots. The estate’s listing carries placeholder times, not session times.
  • Parking. The estate parks visitors beside the Walled Garden for its own open days, but the organiser has not published parking for this event.

This page will be updated when TAG Live puts tickets on sale.

Getting there

The estate is between Luton and Harpenden, and it is not reached through the hotel. The estate’s directions: take the A1081 between Luton and Harpenden, turn at the Newmill End turning, turn left after 100 yards and go in through the large black gates; use the postcode LU1 4LF. It warns that there is no entrance to the Walled Garden from the Luton Hoo Hotel (Luton Hoo Estate).

By train, the Walled Garden is about 3.5 miles from Luton Airport Parkway and 4 miles from Harpenden, both on Thameslink, so from the station it is a taxi or a bus, not a walk. For Christmas rail changes, see our Christmas and New Year travel page. Coming from the town centre, check our roadworks and travel page before you set off, and parking in Luton if you are combining it with a trip into town.

Luton Hoo or Stockwood?

The town’s established light trail, Stockwood Illuminated, runs from 11 to 31 December at Stockwood Discovery Centre, with tickets on sale now from £10 a child and £13 an adult and free parking. Full details are on our Stockwood Illuminated page.
